Dear Mount Greylock Students and Families,
We hope this letter finds you enjoying a restful summer and ready to return. Below is information students and families need to know before school starts.
Welcome Tours
Join us on August 25, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., and August 27, from 11 - 1 pm, to welcome new families and meet with our Administrators. MG student leaders will be onsite to offer tours to any interested students and families. No RSVP is needed for a tour; simply arrive at the main entrance during the scheduled times.
Student Schedules
You received your student’s schedule via ParentSquare today. Just like report cards in recent years, your student’s schedule is in the “Alerts” area of the ParentSquare app. If you require an appointment with your counselor to fill an open block or address a conflict with a core course in your schedule, please contact the Counseling Department at 413.458.9582, ext. 1250. Mrs. Balawender can schedule an appointment with your school counselor.
Please note that priority for appointments will be given to students whose schedules have more substantial conflicts, especially around core classes. Students can also drop or add courses during the first three days of school.
Lockers
Students in grades 7-11 are assigned lockers. Locker number and combination are listed on top of each student's individual schedule. Students in grade 12 may request a locker by email to Ms. Rutz at srutz@mgrsd.org.

MG will continue to provide breakfast and lunch at no charge to all students.
Communication
Our website at www.mgrsd.org remains a resource for all members of the community. We encourage you to explore the site to see how it is organized and find pages that might be most useful to you. The News & Announcements page showcases student and faculty accomplishments and highlights important events. The MGRSD Today page provides links to everything from lunch menus to MG weather station updates to the Greylock Echo and Greylock Snow Day blogs. We also encourage you to follow two social media accounts – either directly or via the MGRSD Today page. @MGMounties provides general news, and @AthleticsMG provides team news.
Student/Parent Handbook
The handbook is available on the website under the Important Documents section. Important information, including rules, regulations, the bullying policy, the code of conduct, and student expectations, can be found there. It is important to review these with your student before the start of the school year, especially if they are new to MGRS. Please review the handbook and complete the enclosed form confirming your access to the digital handbook on the website.

Driving to School
The bus loop is exclusively for bus use between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The first road into the parking lot leads to the drop-off/pick-up area. Between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., parking spaces in the bus loop adjacent to the meadow are available for visitors to quickly stop by the building.
As always, we encourage students to take buses to and from school. We will post bus routes on ParentSquare the last week of August. Regular school-day schedules and late-bus schedules will also be posted online. Mount Greylock runs two after-school buses, Monday through Friday at 5:15 and Tuesday and Thursday at 4:15 - one towards Lanesborough and the other towards Williamstown. On the rare occasion a bus will not run (for example, on a half-day), we will make announcements.
Over the next week, please look for future messages about the start of school. You’ll receive back-to-school forms and other documents. The new school year begins on Tuesday, September 1. Consider wearing red and white on the very first day to show your Mountie spirit.
