Performance art is an art form where the artist's own actions, presence, and sometimes body are the medium (instead of paint, collage or sculpture materials). Usually, the artist performs in front of a live audience. At this workshop, you’ll meet Tsedaye Makonnen, a performance artist, who is working with students at Williams College to make a live event. Her new project in the Berkshires, Refuge used to live among the Hoosic River and the White Oak Trees, includes 11 performers and it’s about history and movement of people across time and space and will take place at the Clark on Saturday, October 4 at 4:00 p.m.

You are invited to be a part of a one hour movement workshop here at MG as a way to learn more about performance art and Refuge.
