Organization-Lanesborough Tree and Forest Committee

Description - Help with planting of Lanesborough public trees, and care of Town trees.  Work includes preparing ground for planting, planting new trees, monitoring Town trees for problems, occasional weeding, mulching, watering and pruning.  Students will work with and be supervised by committee members. The Committee meets one Monday a month at 7 PM at the Lanesborough Library.

Number of volunteers needed - up to 10

Special requirements/skills needed - Interest in the environment, enjoyment of the outdoors.  Some physical work required.

Organization -Lanesboro Youth Basketball Association (in conjuction with Williamstown Youth Basketball Assoc)

Description of volunteer opportunity- variety of positions, including assistant coaches, score keepers, time keepers, referees.

Dates/times needed - Season starts early December  and runs for 8 weeks.  One league plays on Wednesday, one on Fridays.  The youngest league (1st and 2nd graders) begins the third week of December and plays on Saturday mornings from 9 am - noon.

Number of volunteers needed - many!

Special requirements/skills needed - some knowlege of basketball, interest in working with children.  Training will be provided for these positions.  Must be a student in 9 - 12 grade.

Organization - Lanesborough Volunteer Fire Department

Description - Fire/rescue services, structural fire fighting, emergency medical calls, auto accidents, water/mountain rescue.

Times needed - on call 24/7

Special requirements/skills needed - Training provided in CPR, advanced first aid, hazardous materials training, mountain/water rescue, fire fighting
