WILLIAMSTOWN -- After four years of putting all she has into her job, Mount Greylock Athletic Director Lindsey von Holtz is finally being rewarded.

At Tuesday's Mount Greylock Regional School Committee, Principal Tim Payne announced that von Holtz had been voted to receive the Theodore Damko Award. She will be presented with the award at the athletic director's conference in March.

"The coaches and the kids help me look good, she said.

Payne had recently received an email informing him of von Holtz honor, so he thought it appropriate to make it public during Tuesday's meeting, where von Holtz was on hand because of a vote pertaining to concussions. Payne announced

The award was voted on by her peers last fall.

"It was nice to hear that my colleagues thought that I was doing a good job," von Holtz said. "Sometimes you feel completely underwater in the job. It's nice to know somebody thinks you're doing all right."

One person from each of the eight districts in the state is honored with the award. Von Holtz received the award for District G.

To be eligible, an AD must have three to five years of experience. She has four. Before coming to Greylock, von Holtz served as an assistant athletic director in Ludlow.

"It's a really good recognition of how hard she's worked over the years," said former Durry Athletic Director John Franzoni, who just left the post last spring.
