Summer Sundays in Williamstown is coming in July!

Looking for a fundraising opportunity for your team or club? In need of community service hours? We can help! Come join us on July 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 3:30 - 7:30 pm.

Great exposure for your team, and an easy way to raise money, while serving the community. Let us know what you would like to do (sponsor a children's activity, volunteer with the event, sell cotton candy or popcorn or a snack - run a Dunk Tank).

There is lots to do and it is a really fun time!

This year marks the Boston Symphony Orchestra's 75th anniversary summer season at Tanglewood in Lenox. The celebration features the installation of large instrument replicas that have been transformed into artwork by area high school and college students as well as professional artists. Working in teams, our art students have completed five of these beautiful sculptures to be featured on the Tanglewood grounds this summer. Students that participated in this wonderful event are:

Travel to France, Switzerland, and Italy!

Informational Meetings for February, 2013 travel to France, Switzerland, and Italy will be held on Monday, May 21st at 5:00pm- 6:00pm and then from 6:00pm-7:00pm in W410 (the Latin Room).

School-wide Tag Sale

The Class of 2012 will be sponsoring a School-wide Tag Sale on Saturday May 26 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at Mt. Greylock. (Rain Date is Sunday, May 27). It is Spring Cleaning time, so clean out those closets, basements and garages! For just $25 you can get a 10ft space to sell your own items, in the lawn in front of the Mt. Greylock gym. Don't have enough stuff for your own table, we will be taking donations that morning, to sell at a Class of 2012 table. You will need to bring the item the morning of the Tag Sale, with a suggested sales price.

Presentation on Dangers of Texting While Driving

A representative from AT&T will be presenting to the Juniors and Seniors on Friday, May 18th at 9:15 in the auditorium. The message will focus on the dangers of texting when driving. A number of local officials will join Dr. Rose Ellis, Superintendent, in attending the presentation. Mount Greylock is proud to host this event as it provides a timely and relevant message for our students. The presentation will be broadcast live through Willinet and made available to other area high schools.

Mountie Spring Carnival: May 25th

Mt. Greylock Regional School will host its first ever year-end celebration for students, faculty and staff on Friday, May 25th. This "Spring Carnival" event will kick off with an assembly in the gymnasium where individual and groups of students will be recognized for their many academic, athletic and civic accomplishments this year. Students and staff will then enjoy the rest of the day together by participating in a variety of competitive and noncompetitive games and activities. Lunch will be provided.

Currently in our school gallery we are featuring recent digital photographs by Michael Powers. These beautiful photographs are carefully manipulated in terms of color and time exposure. Don't miss it.

Starting on May 23rd, the School gallery will be featuring an exhibit of Photographs by Sophomore Amalia Leamon that explore the "Wall street Occupation" with exciting and thought provoking images taken at the rally.

Latin is alive and thriving at Mount Greylock

2012 Mount Greylock National Latin Exam Results

On March 14th, 2012 Mount Greylock Regional School Latin students participated in the 35th Annual National Latin Exam. Approximately 150,000 students took the exam which is sponsored by the American Classical League. Participation is not limited to the United States, but the exam is administered internationally in nations such as Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Japan, New Zealand, and Poland.

Students are able to earn various levels of awards based on their achievement on the exam. The highest honor available is a perfect paper, an honor limited to less than 1% of students who take the exam. Three Mount Greylock students earned this award, and they are all siblings. The honors go to Aaron Kleiner, Matthew Kleiner, and Ned Kleiner. Aaron and Matthew earned perfect papers at the Intro level of the National Latin Exam. Ned, their older brother and senior at Mount Greylock received a perfect paper at Level V. They will all receive a special hand-lettered certificate from the National Latin Exam Committee.

Students earning the distinction of Summa Cum Laude include Katie Parks, Rose Shuker-Haines, Zach Armet, Andrew Whitaker, Derek Wood, Ned Kleiner Aaron Kleiner, and Matthew Kleiner

Students earning the distinction of Maxima Cum Laude include Dagny Albano, Cole Dudley, Jesse Cohen, Najla Nassar, Simon Kent, Dan Schiek, Gray Kaegi, Adam Hall, Noah Savage, Miranda Dils, Jake Foehl, Daniel Packer, Carter Stripp, Aaron Ziemer, Evi Mahon, Miranda Bucky, Alex Cheung, Thalia Rossitter, and Caleb Raymond

Students earning the distinction of Magna Cum Laude include Melissa Swann, Petrea Mannello, Joey Gais, Gef Fisher, Christina Butcher, Julia Vlahopoulos, Pearl Sutter, and Emily Kaegi

Students earning the distinction of Cum Laude include Ellie Williams, Matt Wiseman, Jasper Rosenheim, Caroline Carlough, Luke Park, Emma Culver, Sara Rudd, Eric Hirsch, Emily Rudd, Katelin Marchand, and Jonah Majumder.

The Mount Greylock Latin Program will hold its annual Latin Awards Banquet (Parentalia) on Thursday, May 24th at 6:30 in the Mount Greylcok cafeteria to honor these award winners, the winners of the National Mythology Exam, and the winners of competitions at this weekend's Massachusetts State Convention.
