This school year is flying by!  The month of December will be short with school vacation beginning on December 23.

This Friday, December 3 at 7 pm in the auditorium there will be a middle school movie night with a showing of “Toy Story3”.

Parents are invited to a coffee in the middle school conference room on Monday, December 13 at 8:00am to chat about middle school.  Please let me know if you will be attending, so I may have enough refreshments available.

The 8th grade team is will be focusing on Constitutional Debates, an interdisciplinary unit between social studies and English.  Parents are invited to watch the debates in the auditorium.  More information regarding these debates will be sent home by Mr. Blackman.

The 7th grade team is focusing on persons of influence.  In science class students are studying Charles Darwin.  In English class, students are reading non-fiction and will be writing a paper on a person of influence in their life.

Also, in 7th grade Mrs. Moore-Powers’ enrichment class will be putting on a play in the auditorium during second period on December 22.  Mrs. Gibson enrichment class has begun rug hooking.  So far, the rugs look great!  And, twenty boys are Read more...

Posted on Monday, October 25, 2010 First Quarter Almost Over

It does not seem possible that the first quarter is drawing to a close!  Marks close on November 5, please remember to check PowerSchool for your child's grades.

The 8th grade held their annual Mt Greylock hike, on a beautiful but very cold day.  This made for a lovely afternoon to sit by a cozy fire and chat with students.

The 7th grade traveled to the Norman Rockwell Museum last week as part of the exploratory Time Travelers’ unit.  The museum was interesting and the students learned a lot about Norman Rockwell. Although, I would have to say that, lightening striking close to the bus, really got ALL of our attention.

Posted on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 School Opening

As I sit in my office listening to the middle school band warm up, I started to think about how the school year progresses.  Like the musician and his/her instrument trying to find the perfect scale, students and teachers are getting to know each other.

The middle school has had a wonderful opening---here’s to a good year!
